Project leader Jin Rui overviews Do Something Good for PM

Last Sunday, Do Something Good was officially launched by the Prime Minister Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Najib Razak at 1Malaysia For Youth (1M4U) at KLCC. He was welcomed by our team and Celebrity for a Cause ambassador Sarimah Ibrahim. To mark his support of initiatives to inspire the spirit of volunteerism, Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Najib Razak also launched his own account on Do Something Good. It’s clear that this is something he cares about. He spent quite a while getting to know about the platform, how it works, as well the organisations on board!

The energy in the air at 1M4U was electrifying. With tens of thousands of high-spirited people at KLCC park, we were literally bumping into people everywhere we moved. The team spent the day registering volunteering at 1M4U and building awareness about Do Something Good. During his walkabout, Home Ministry Y.B. Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was kind enough to stop and support Do Something Good as well. With so many people volunteering to contribute to Malaysia’s security through RELA and other organisations, volunteering is a huge part of the Ministry’s work.

We were also overwhelmed by the support we received from other personalities at the event, including national squash player Azlan Iskandar, F1 racer Nabil Jeffri, and actor Fizo Omar. They wore our Do Something Good stickers on their shirts throughout the event. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dato’ Seri Shabery Cheek and the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Senator Gan Ping Sieu also proudly wore our stickers and spent some time browsing through our website to check out how it worked.

All in all, we had an amazing and inspiring Sunday and it was a great honour to be able to participate and experience such unity and determination from the Malaysian youths and government officials alike. We’re happy we can do this to support a good cause — and that so many people are out there supporting Do Something Good! Abundant ‘Thank You’s’ to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, celebrities, as well as our supportive and amazing Youth Icons.
