Celebrities Stand Up For a Cause

For the next two months (and counting!), six amazing celebrities are competing to recruit as many volunteers as they can. Each has selected an organisation they want to champion and will be encouraging people to sign up for volunteering opportunities by their organisation. We’ve put up a live leader board of which celebrity is edging out which in real time at the leaderboard.

So who are these great personalities with a heart? Let’s take a look!

Award winning rapper, songwriter, producer, television and live events host, Altimet will be the National Society for the Deaf’s acting ambassador for the competition. The NSD promotes, fosters and deals with all aspects of the welfare of the deaf people in Malaysia. You can show your support to Altimet and NSD at dosomething.gd/altimet

Amber Chia, a model and actress who embodies the classic fairytale rise to fame is our celebrity ambassador for SOLS 24/7, a not-for-profit organisation that trains underprivileged youth in English, math, science and computer skills. Mohd Azlan Iskandar, Malaysia’s top-ranked squash player is supporting EPIC Homes. This initiative is a product of the EPIC Collaborative that focuses on building sustainable housing for underprivileged Malaysian communities. Support Azlan and EPIC Homes at dosomething.gd/azlan

The National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) is the first cancer related NGO in the country that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer. The charismatic host of Astro Awani’s “Entrepreneur”, Ben Ibrahim is NCSM’s celebrity ambassador. You can support Ben and NCSM at dosomething.gd/ben

The current anchor for NTV 7’s Bella Mars talkshow is the lovely Daphne Iking, also a journalist, wife and mother. Prompted by her strong motherly instincts, she has chosen to work with Yayasan Chow Kiit. This NGO is a 24-hour crisis and drop-in centre, providing meals, activities, therapy, case management, and educational programmes for at-risk children of Chow Kit. She is a DJ on the Red.FM breakfast show every Monday to Friday and is an ambassador for Power Over Cervical Cancer. In the past, Sarimah Ibrahim has hosted shows such as The Biggest Loser Asia and Akademi Fantasia, among others. Sarimah is supporting the Dignity for Children Foundation (DCF). DCF is an NGO that aims to empower underprivileged children to break the cycle of poverty through quality education. You can support Sarimah and Dignity for Children at dosomething.gd/sarimah
